Mr. Elliott was born and brought up in Michigan, the USA.
He studied BA Divisional Humanities (History, Art, Literature)
at Michigan State University.He came to Japan in 1985. Before coming to Japan, he visited Ireland, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg.
Now he is retired and enjoys designing and making jewelry.
He is an NLP practitioner and has a wide range of interests.

Program : My Life: An Anecdotal Journey

Mr Halewood was born on the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England, and mainly brought up in Manchester and North Buckinghamshire, England.
He has a B.Sc. degree in Zoology from the University of London.
He came to Japan in May 1973, and taught at Baika Women’s University for 29 years until he retired two years ago.
He enjoys hiking, cycling, bird-watching, stamp collecting and rock music.
This is his second lecture for us.
His first one in September 2009 was entitled ‘Language Death’.

since the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001

Mr. Hazelton was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He received his BA from the University of Toronto and College degree from Sheridan College in their Co-op Art and Art History program.
He is currently finishing his MEd at Jones International University in Colorado.
He came to Japan in February, 2001.
He is currently an ALT/NET working at elementary and junior high schools in Neyagawa.
This is his fourth lecture for us.

Program : American Inventions and Their Inventors:
A Brief History
Mr. Hershman was born in Los Angeles and raised in Glendale, California,
which is the sister city of Higashiosaka.
He studied sociology at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
He first came to Japan as an exchange student in 1993,
then returned as a teacher from 1997 to 2000.
After five years in America he returned once again in 2005.
Now he teaches English at Nisshin High School in Higashiosaka.
He is currently studying how to read kanji.
He enjoys playing the guitar, reading books, listening to music,
watching sports and especially camping.

Ms. Vassell is from Boston, Massachusetts in USA, where she
studied electronic engineering and trained as an ESL instructor.
She came to Japan in Sep. 2004, and has taught at
over 30 English language schools and business corporations.
She is currently teaching at a trading company.
This is her third lecture for us: Her last one in June was about
“The World of English Language Schools”.

Dear members,
We would like to collect our membership fee \2,000 for the second
half of this year in October. (Our annual fee is \4,000.)

Mr. Dlamini is from Swaziland in Southern Africa.
He studied Mechanical Engineering and Energy at the
University of Cape Town.
He came to Japan in September, 2006, and is currently studying
PhD in Energy Science (Engineering) at Kyoto University.
He has visited many countries in Southern Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe.
He is concerned in protecting the environment and a better society for all.

Program : Misty Frequencies : Changes in the New Zealand Music Industry

Mr. Dangerfield is from Wellington, New Zealand.
He majored in Japanese and Mathematics at
Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand.
He came to Japan in August, 2008, and is currently
teaching English at Nisshin High School.
He has traveled to Australia, Scotland, England
and Malaysia before coming to Japan.
He is interested in music, film, literature,
mathematics and Japanese
culture.

※The place will be changed to Kansai College of Business & Languages.
It is next to the former Ten-noji Gakkan High School in the south.
The 389th meeting on May 9 will be held in the room No.54 on 5F.

Ms. Turner was born and brought up in Kingston, Jamaica.
She studied Literatures in English and Political Science at college.
She came to Japan in July 2007, and is currently teaching English
at Kumeda Senior High School in Kishiwada.
She is interested in foreign language acquisition and cultural studies.
This is her third lecture for us.

Program : Comedy in English

Mr. Levi is from the USA and studied psychology and
political science at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
He came to Japan in 2001, and now he has his own music
promotion company, Shalestone Music, http://shalestonemusic.jp.
He made his TV debut in NHK “Eigo de Shabera Night” on Dec. 8, 2008.
He also performs English Rakugo himself with a stage name,
Juen (寿演).
This is his third lecture for us.
This time he will perform “This is Rakugo” with Showto,
and there will be a workshop by Showto with some of the audience.
